Do you not want to do your current job for the rest of your life? Or do you want to turn your hobby into your profession, but don’t know how? Here I will show you three steps towards your dream life, which you can now follow in everyday life together while still working your current job.
Step 1: Learn As Much As Possible
The best thing to do today is to get as much information as possible. Lifelong learning is as banal as it is true. The life you lead today is always the result of your past thoughts and actions. So sooner or later, if you want to do something different in your life than what you are doing now, then you have to change the way you think and/or act. But this only works if you develop further, that is, if you learn. Topics you could learn about are for example personality development, spirituality and entrepreneurship.
When we hear the term learning, we often think of school, university or a college course. In fact, there are many other ways to acquire knowledge outside the traditional education system – for example, through books, podcasts, webinars, online courses, videos or simply through Google. The challenge is to select the most valuable information we have. The best way to learn is from people who are already where you want to be, or who inspire you.
You will soon notice that a kind of snowball effect has set in: When you find an inspiring article or podcast, you can find a search term on Google and find more articles. Or you can interview another person who you also find exciting and whose YouTube channel you have subscribed to.
In no time at all, you’ll find that your way of thinking is changing. Suddenly you will be confronted with life concepts, ideas and earning opportunities you have never tried before, and you will have a much better idea of what you want to do with your life.
Step 2: Always Dream Big
The more you hear or read interviews or biographies of successful people who already live their dream life and make money with their businesses, the more you will think: I want that too!
The first step is all about receiving information from outside about what is possible. The second step is to find out what you want to achieve for yourself. Now you can start dreaming big. What if you could achieve everything you have set as your life’s goal? If you could do what you want all day and earn your money, what would you do? What would your perfect day look like? The more concretely you define it for yourself, the easier it will be to create a concrete plan of how you can achieve it all. Now is the time to think about your personal wish list for life.
This is probably the time when your inner critic will jump in with his/her “but”. But I am not good enough for that. But you can’t live with that. But what do people think of me… In the second step, you can ignore this inner criticism. The “how” will be dealt with in the next step. Because as Walt Disney said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.
Step 3: Put Your Dream To Action
So you have gained knowledge about what is possible and how to do it. You have also allowed yourself to have big dreams and have already seen your perfect life before your eyes. So far, so good – most people get that far. The difference between people who dream their dream life and those who live it is that the latter have managed to make their dreams come true.
From dream to action is the motto of Step Three – because knowledge is not power, but applied knowledge is! And this is where most people fail. Because this phase requires courage, commitment and perseverance. The courage to dare something that might fail and to try it, even if everyone tells you that you are crazy to do so. Commitment in the sense that it takes a lot of time, energy and probably money to do it. And persistence, because the road will be long and you will encounter obstacles.
It is important that at some point you take the lead and take action. You may feel intimidated by your goal because you feel that you are so far away and that you have a thousand things to do on the way there. If this is the case, it can be helpful to write down every little step you need to take to make your dream come true.
Let’s say you like cooking and you want to write a blog about it and publish a book with your recipes. To do this, you have to design a website, write blog entries, think about recipes, bake and photograph recipes, write the recipes, write to different publishers and ask them to publish your work, … Of course you will not start your blog overnight and finish a book. But if you know how much it costs, you can immediately start making a little piece of it every day. Maybe you’ll watch a video about blogging with WordPress today. And tomorrow you can bake your favorite cake by documenting every step with your camera and then write down the instructions. That way, you’ll get closer to your dream every day.
