In life, you don’t get what you want, but what you work for.
That’s why we have developed the following 9 tips to help you work for what you want!
1. Look in the mirror every morning and ask yourself, “Is this really what I want in my life?
Every time the answer to that question “no”, you know it’s time to make a change. If you follow this principle, the big decisions in life will be much easier for you.
Long-term happiness means that you follow your inner voice as consistently as possible.
Always remember that you will achieve your goals yourself and no one else will help you. Be honest with yourself: If you find yourself following the crowd on autopilot, it’s time to stop and think about what you want.
2. Make your dream come true and start acting.
Actions lead to results. Turn your big dream into a series of small goals and gradually achieve each intermediate goal on your list.
Take action! You alone are responsible for achieving results. Ultimately, it always depends on whether you are willing to take action. You decide: Either you deal in results or inertia and excuses. Unfortunately, both are not possible.
The pain of discipline is much less than the pain of regret for something you did not do. Do what you have to do and do it 100%. No one has ever followed their dream and regretted it afterwards.
3. Take a few small steps every day
Don’t build mountains in your head. Don’t try to have it all at once. Always put one step before the next.
If you want instant gratification, just make your life unnecessarily complicated. However, if you see every moment as an opportunity to make a small positive investment in your future, then all rewards come automatically.
Even though it may seem from moment to moment that your individual efforts have little effect, you will reach a point where you look back and realize what momentum you have gained and what you have already done.
If you move forward in life long enough, you will eventually get exactly where you want to go. Guaranteed!
4. Exercise self-control
You will never get what you really want unless you learn how to do the right thing, even if you don’t want it. Every time you manage to work on a task, even if you don’t want to, you develop your will power.
5. Practice makes perfect!
True mastery is the result of a decision. Practice makes perfect. So you should practice the most.
Whatever you decide to do, do it to the best of your knowledge and belief. Do it so well that others will have fun watching you. If they get their friends to brag about you, you’ve done everything right!
6. Pay attention to your thoughts and words
Be aware of the power that your thoughts have over your actions, and therefore pay attention to your thoughts. Also understand the power of your words. Through your thoughts and words you create your own weaknesses and strengths. You can always replace negative conversations with positive ones.
It is best to stop thinking negative things. In any case, they are only a figment of your imagination. Let your thoughts encourage rather than hinder you. Concentrate on the immediate moment that lies ahead of you. Free yourself from the garbage of your thoughts and concentrate on the here and now.
7. Surround yourself with people who challenge and encourage you.
You are the person with whom you spend most of your time with. The great danger of spending time with negative people is that you start to be negative yourself without being aware of it.
Friendships and relationships must be chosen carefully. Bad friendships only bring you down. You also don’t have to commit to a relationship with someone if you are unsure of them. You do not need to meet people who hold you back or make you feel smaller than you are.
8. Giving something back
The famous Zig Ziglar once said: “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want“.
Because only through conscious self-giving can you get it. Or in other words, “As the forest calls, so the forest resonates”. When you give light to others, your path also shines naturally.
9. Provide for balance
Be diligent and conscientious in your work, but also make sure that you have time to relax and make new discoveries. It is not enough to achieve just one goal. Take care of other areas of your life while you have time.
Take a break from time to time and go for a long walk. Take the hand of a loved one, go fishing, spend time with friends, go swimming, lie in the sun, try something new, meditate, take a deep breath or enjoy everything that is already good in your life.
In other words: bring your life into balance – work hard, but do not neglect other areas of your life. Keep your mind young, move your body and take care of your friends and relationships. If you do this, the things you want most will come naturally into your life.
